Common Name: Magizhampoo / Spanish cherry
Botanical name: Mimusops elengi L
This is also known as the Spanish cherry, loved much locally for how it gives all that it is to the community around it. Its flowers are fragrant, spreading a subtle aroma around in the night’s air and also has several mythological connections. Its fruits are eaten raw and are said to be good for oral health. It grows tall and wide, up to 30 metres and even 40 at times.
