Botanical name: Radermachera xylocarpa
The Padri tree is a deciduous tree that grows about 5 to 10 metres tall. For its showy bloom of flowers, it is often grown as an ornamental tree in gardens and landscape designs. It’s wood is harvested locally for wood, but it is also used in furniture and doors making as they have a very beautiful shade of colour on polish. It's endemic to the Indian subcontinent and contains high concentrations of steroidal compounds.
